Hi All

I'm not sure if anyone can give me any advice on this or has used similar products.
I recently purchased a Phillips IPL Lumea hair removal system which cost several hundred pounds and while reading through the very long list of do's and do not's it says not to use if you are taking immuno suppressant medication. I currently take Sulfasalazine and Celecoxib and so am now not sure if I should give it a go or not as once used I cannot return it and as it was so expensive I don't want to then not be able to use it again.

I was so looking forward to getting one of these and had images of a glorious hair free summer and now I'm feeling pretty grumpy that I may have to take it back Sad

Has anyone else used one of these or know if or why it is unsafe to use while on the meds?

Many thanks

Deb x

Hi Deb

I can understand your frustration at having found the answer to a hairless summer there is now a question mark over it.
I am sorry that I do not have any experience of this but do think you should check with your ra nurse before using it.

Best Wishes

Deb

I would love one of the laser hair removal systems but they are so expensive.

I can only presume that the explanation is that the laser burns down to the hair follicle and any burn increases the risk of infection and this risk is even more compounded if you take immunosuppressants.

As Sue says I would check with your RA nurse.

Hmmmm-an interesting one this. I find that a lot of stuff says 'do not use if diabetic' but I have ignored this with no bad effects! Sometimes they are ust covering their backs in these days of sueing. However, I don't know the answer to this one but why not contact the company and ask them why that warning is there? Then you will have some info for your rheummy team.
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.
